Associate Creative Director - Design

What We Need

We are seeking an Associate Creative Director - Design based in our Minneapolis headquarters to assists in leading a roster of clients, acting as a lead designer in a client-relationship role.

What You'll Do

The Associate Creative Director – Design supports creative directors as second management level, assisting in current and new business and recruiting and developing staff by:

  • Establishing and maintaining high creative standards
  • Ensuring fresh thinking, strong relationships and award-winning work
  • Providing mentorship direction and guidance to other team members
  • Participating in developing ideas for new business and may be assigned high profile client accounts
  • Building strong credibility and good working relationships with clients
  • Selecting and directing internal and external teams
  • Presenting concepts to internal and external teams
  • Overseeing some projects and teams, providing mentorship and creative strategy
  • Helping set overall direction with Account/Client team
  • Communicating direction and status to broader agency team
  • Interpreting creative briefs and creating concepts
  • Promoting awareness of Carlson Marketing through active participation in industry associations

What You'll Need

  • Minimum 10+ years experience (most within a creative-driven shop)
  • Bachelors degree in Design, Art School or Advertising School Graduate (e.g. BFA in Design)
  • Proven ability to relate to, communicate with and motivate employees to sustained high performance and quality levels
  • Fluent in all the latest design software
  • Demonstrated large client direction and internal team relationship skills
  • Must be active, hands-on designer and director
  • Diverse multi-disciplinary experience, including but not limited to: retail promotions, retail merchandising and environments, packaging, identity, advertising (both print and broadcast), direct, interactive, collateral systems and brand image design
