What We Need

We are seeking a Design Director based in our Minneapolis office, acting a key concepter in creating original ideas and concepts for assigned clients and projects.

What You'll Do

The Designer will understand requirements, interpret creative briefs and translate into visually attractive designs that leverage the full extent of the medium by:

  • Assisting the larger design team in the creation of high-quality print and/or electronic creative
  • Handling projects from original inception through production layouts as assigned
  • Assisting other designers in completion of work or campaign development
  • Creating ideas across retail merchandising and environments packaging identity, direct, interactive, collateral systems, and brand image design
  • Working in team situation with a designer and CD/ACD – Collaboration.
  • Learning to interpret creative briefs
  • Ensuring fresh thinking, strong relationships and award-winning work
  • Establishing and maintaining high creative standards
  • Participating in developing ideas for new business
  • Taking direction from creative leadership team
  • Working collaboratively in a team situation with a designer and CD/ACD
  • Promoting awareness of Carlson Marketing through active participation in industry associations

What You'll Need

  • 1-3 years experience working in agency or design firm
  • Bachelors degree in Design, Art School or Advertising School Graduate (e.g. BFA in Design)
  • Experience, including but not limited to: retail promotions, retail merchandising and environments, packaging, identity, advertising (both print and broadcast), direct, interactive, collateral systems, and brand image design
  • Strong conceptual abilities and attention to detail
  • Self-directed, responsible, and able to meet deadline and budget requirements
  • Strong typography and foundational design skills, composition, color
  • Integrate interactive design work as part of larger online/offline campaigns
  • Ability to work within or establish brand look/feel
  • Fluent in all the latest design software
